Women in Business Fund Supports North Country Professionals

Quigg Women in Business Fund of the Northern New York Community Foundation has handed out its second batch of grants.

This time, it's going to three womenone of whom is a former AmeriCorps VISTA volunteeras well as two nonprofit professionals, the Watertown Daily Times reports.

The fund was set up in the wake of Quigg's death in 2021.

She was a successful real estate broker and community and business leader in Jefferson County.

"Our latest grant recipients are shining examples of the mission of the fund," says Kimberley Horrill, Quigg's sister-in-law and a board member of the Community Foundation.

Among the recipients: Marina Loew, co-owner of Bare Beauty in Watertown; Kylie Horrill, a member of the St.

Lawrence University String Orchestra; and Alisa Woods, a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in trauma therapy.

They'll use the funds to buy sensory kits for 40 women-owned businesses to become more accepting and inclusive.

Schell is the founder and executive director of Encompass Recreation, a Carthage-based nonprofit that provides sports and recreational opportunities for youth with higher support needs.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in fashion merchandise management from the Fashion Institute of New York.
